The annual Howth RNLI Golf Classic took place again last Friday in Deer Park Golf. It was great to see the sun edge it's way out and create some good golf conditions for all the players. As usual the event was beautifully organised by the Howth RNLI Fundraising Crew. There was stiff competition with the overall spoils going winning team which included well-known Bagman Colin Byrne (Royal Dublin). Colin was accompanied by his wife Christine and Orna Cassidy both from Sutton Golf Club along with Howth Golf Club's Darragh Richardson. It was great to see Colin and his team bag this coveted Perpetual Trophy on the day. Runners up prize went to Deer Park Golf Club' John Smithers, Philip Cahena, Paddy Rednich and Rolan Noonan (President).
The overall winners of the Ladies team prize went to well known Howth Golf Club Ladies Gillian Guinness, Darina McGuirk and Kitty Walsh who were joined by Clontarf Golf Club's Jenny White. Congratulations ladies. The Deer Park teams were definitely on form with the men's prize going to Keith Flynn, Liam Bailey, David Ward and Brendan McGrath. The mixed team prize also went to Deer Park with incoming Captains Aidan Connellan and Lynn Barrett accompanied by Frank Lynch and Rose McDunphy. The longest drive went to Eoin Keogh for the men and Jeddy McGuinness for the ladies. Nearest the flag went to George Rickard for the men and Susan Lynch for the ladies. Congratulations to all the winners and participants for making the day so enjoyable.
Speaking with Colin afterwards he was full of praise for the course's excellent condition as well as the great competition that he and the other teams enjoyed at this very worthy annual event.
The organisers thanked all the sponsors on the day especially Deer Park Golf for providing the course along with The Wright Group for their room and great hospitality. The overall amount raised on the day was €8905 on the day. If any of you couldn't make it on the day there is still a link open if you would like to donate. RNLI link
