Congratulations, Chloe and Georgia, on scoring your very first birdies this summer at Deer Park Golf!
Every golfer remembers their first birdie. That wonderful mix of disbelief, delight, and the sudden realisation that yes, you actually can do this. It's a feeling that stays with you long after you've walked off the green.
To mark the occasion in the way it deserves, Alan continued a simple but special tradition he has for budding golfers: he wrote the date on each ball (pictured) and told the girls to keep them safe. Because a first birdie isn't just a score. It's a milestone, the moment the game changes, and you start to believe in what you're capable of on the course. For the kids and teens taking part in our Summer Camps, it becomes a core summer holiday memory.
Years from now, Chloe and Georgia will still have those balls, and they'll remember exactly where they were when they earned them.
It's moments like these that make junior coaching so rewarding. Watching a young player find their confidence, develop their swing, and then, out of nowhere, sink that first birdie. There's nothing quite like it.
