As always our Greens Team have been working hard to keep our courses in the best possible condition. Over the last two weeks they have been working on our winter aeration programme on St. Fintan’s 9 and the Deer Park Back 9.
Winter Aeration
Our greens have been aerated using twelve-inch solid tines, this helps to:
These efforts will result in faster, smoother greens over time which we know our golfers will appreciate.
They have applied 2.5 tonnes of sand per green, which will:
In addition, our Greens Team have spread a tonne of sand on approaches and swales. Over time, this will lead to better firmness, improved growth, and enhanced drainage in these key areas.
Shock Wave Treatment on Fairways
They have also introduced a new machine called the Shock Wave on our fairways. This machine uses rotating blades to create 7-inch deep slits in the soil, which:
This process is slow but causes little to no disruption to play.
