Cracking Day for Deer Park Golf's Jubilee Year Drive-In

Sunday 14th January saw the Deer Park Men out in force to mark the change of guard for the special 2024 Jubilee Year. Marking 50 years as a golf club, Deer Park Men's Club now has close to 600 members. Captain Aidan, who was nominated Captain 31 years ago in 1993, thanked 2023 Captain Paul Gilligan for inviting him back for this special Jubilee year. He is looking forward to this special year. His Jubilee committee is working hard to plan a series of golf events and the first event planned is a Scramble on 28th January. They have planned to run something every month leading up to the big event on the 23rd of August. He appealed to all members to row in and help with the celebrations to mark 50 years of this great club.

Outgoing President Roland Noonan (2022 & 2023) presented incoming President, Tony Sweetman, with his President's jacket. Tony, a long-time member, playing partner, and friend of Roland's expressed his gratitude for this great honour. He said he is proud and happy and looking forward to seeing fellow club members out on the fairways.

As part of the presentations, the owners of the property kindly donated honorary playing rights to two long-serving members of the club. Club Secretary Chris Duff presented these to Tony Sweetman in recognition of his dedication and service. Chris also presented these honorary playing rights to the longest-playing club member, Tommy Desmond. Tommy who has been playing golf in Deer Park for 50 years thanked the owners and Deer Park Golf Men's Club for the great years of golf and friendship and said he was honored to receive these playing rights.

The future looks bright for this great club and we wish them the best for this special Jubilee year.
