There was plenty to celebrate at Deer Park Golf recently as the Deer Park Ladies marked their Golden Jubilee – 50 years of golf, friendship and great memories – with a fantastic day of golf, food, music and some serious 1970s style!
The celebrations began, appropriately, out on the golf course with a special Golden Jubilee competition. The course was looking particularly fabulous for the occasion, and the ladies extended a huge thank you to Neil Cullen and the team for all their hard work in having it in such wonderful condition.
After the golf, the celebrations moved to the Café Bar, where Lady Captain Rose McDunphy welcomed everyone for a BBQ, music and a night dedicated to celebrating this very special milestone in the club’s history.
One of Deer Park Ladies’ longest-standing members, Joan Bell, took the opportunity to say a few words and thanked Lady Captain Rose and the entire hard-working committee. She paid tribute to all those who have given their time and energy over the years to keep Deer Park Ladies the vibrant, welcoming and special club that it is today.
And, of course, you can’t celebrate a club turning 50 without going back to where it all began!
In keeping with the 50th anniversary theme, the dress code for the evening was pure 1970s. The ladies certainly embraced it, arriving in an amazing array of flares, fabulous prints, big sunglasses and seriously cool 70s gear.
With the BBQ served followed by the most magnificent cake made by the very talented Deirdre Owen’s. After, the music was turned up and it wasn’t long before everyone hit the dance floor – they danced the night away.
Looking at the energy on the dance floor, it’s no wonder the Deer Park Ladies are such a fit-looking bunch of golfers – they certainly know how to party!
The Golden Jubilee is a wonderful milestone for Deer Park Ladies and a celebration not only of 50 years of golf, but of the friendships, fun and sense of community that have been at the heart of the club throughout its history.
Congratulations to Lady Captain Rose, the committee and all the Deer Park Ladies – here’s to the next 50 years!
